What Is the Sigenergy SigenStor?

Most home battery systems consist of separate components: a solar inverter, a battery unit, and possibly an EV charger, each from different manufacturers, connected together with varying degrees of compatibility.

The Sigenergy SigenStor takes a fundamentally different approach. It is a 5-in-1 modular energy system that integrates five core functions into one stackable unit:

  • Solar Inverter – converts DC power from your solar panels into AC power for your home.
  • Battery PCS (Power Conversion System) – manages the flow of energy between the battery, the home, and the grid.
  • Battery Pack – stores energy using safe, long-lasting LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) cells.
  • EMS (Energy Management System) – intelligently controls when to charge, discharge, import, or export based on your tariff, usage patterns, and solar generation.
  • Optional EV DC Charger – a DC charging module that slots directly into the stack, offering up to 25 kW of bidirectional charging with V2X readiness.

This integrated design means faster installation (Sigenergy quotes 15 minutes for stackable assembly and 5 minutes for commissioning via the mySigen App), fewer potential points of failure, and a cleaner aesthetic than a wall covered in separate boxes and cables.

Sigen Battery – Capacity Options and Specifications

Sigenergy currently offers two battery modules in the UK as part of the Sigen Battery range:

  1. 6.0 module (6.02 kWh total capacity, 5.84 kWh usable)
  2. 10.0 module (9.04 kWh total, 8.76 kWh usable).

Both feature premium 314 Ah cells rated for 10,000 cycles, significantly higher than the industry norm.

The earlier SigenStor BAT range – which included 5.0 and 8.0 modules – has been discontinued, though existing installations continue to be supported and those modules can still be mixed with the newer Sigen Battery modules in the same stack, thanks to the built-in battery optimiser.

All modules use LiFePO4 chemistry, which is widely regarded as the safest lithium battery technology available.

The IP66 ingress protection rating means they can be installed outdoors without an additional enclosure, which is particularly useful for Wiltshire properties where internal wall space may be limited.

Start Small, Grow on Demand

One of Sigenergy’s most practical features is its genuine modularity. Each Energy Controller supports between one and six battery modules, giving a capacity range from 5.84 kWh to 52.56 kWh per stack.

If your needs change – perhaps you add an electric vehicle, install a heat pump, or simply find that your energy consumption has grown – you can add modules without replacing the controller or rewiring the system.

The newer Sigen Battery models include a built-in battery optimiser that allows you to mix older and newer modules in the same stack. This is a meaningful advantage for Wiltshire homeowners who want to start with a modest system and expand over the next few years as their energy needs evolve.

Sigen EV DC Charging Module

This is where Sigenergy pulls ahead of most competitors. The DC charging module slots directly into the SigenStor stack in 12.5 kW or 25 kW variants, using a CCS2 connector with a voltage range of 150-1,000 V for broad EV compatibility.

It charges your car directly from solar or battery power via DC, avoiding the conversion losses inherent in traditional AC chargers.

It is V2X-ready, meaning that once vehicle-to-home standards are finalised, your EV could feed energy back into your home during a power cut or peak-rate period.

The module carries a 3-year warranty, an IP66 rating, and can be controlled remotely via the mySigen App.

Intelligent Energy Management with the mySigen App

The mySigen App is the control centre for your Sigenergy system. It provides real-time monitoring with energy data refreshing every 10 seconds, so you can see exactly where your electricity is flowing – from solar panels to battery, from battery to home, from grid to charger – at any moment.

The mySigen App showing real-time energy monitoring for a Sigenergy system in Wiltshire

Beyond basic monitoring, the app includes an AI Mode that analyses your consumption patterns and tariff structure to suggest optimal operating modes. For Wiltshire homeowners on time-of-use tariffs such as Octopus Agile or Intelligent Octopus, this is particularly valuable: the system learns when electricity is cheapest, charges the battery during those windows, and discharges during expensive peak periods. Over the course of a year, this automated optimisation can add hundreds of pounds to your savings.

The app also includes Sigen Shield (a visual representation of the battery’s five-layer safety systems), Sigen AI (an integrated assistant that can diagnose issues and submit service requests), and customisable ambient lighting for the controller unit. For our installation engineers, the app streamlines commissioning to a six-step process that can be completed in around five minutes.

Safety, Warranty, and Peace of Mind

Five-Layer Battery Safety

Sigenergy’s battery modules incorporate five layers of protection at the cell, module, and system level.

The LiFePO4 chemistry itself has inherently higher thermal stability than the NMC (nickel manganese cobalt) cells used in some competing products.

It does not experience thermal runaway under normal failure conditions, which is why it is increasingly the chemistry of choice for home installations.

Warranty Coverage

The Sigen Battery and Energy Controller carry a 10-year product warranty.

For the battery, Sigenergy also provides a performance warranty guaranteeing 60% of usable energy capacity at 10 years, or a minimum throughput energy (for example, 30.66 MWh for the 10.0 module), whichever milestone is reached first.

The Sigen Gateway has a 5-year warranty; the EV DC Charging Module has a 3-year warranty; and the Communication Module and Power Sensor each carry a 2-year warranty.

One detail worth noting: to maintain the full 10-year warranty, the system must remain connected to the internet for firmware updates. If it is disconnected for an extended period, a 5-year warranty is still guaranteed.

The warranty is transferable to a new owner if the system remains in its original location – a useful feature when it comes to adding value to your property.

How Much Does a Sigenergy Battery System Cost in Wiltshire?

How much does a Sigenergy battery system cost in Wiltshire?

The cost of a Sigenergy system depends on several factors: the number of battery modules, the size of the Energy Controller, whether you include the EV DC Charging Module or Energy Gateway, and the complexity of the electrical work at your property.

Rather than publishing indicative prices that may quickly become outdated, we prefer to provide a transparent, itemised quote after your free home survey, so you know exactly what you are paying for, with no hidden costs.

What we can confirm is that residential Sigenergy installations benefit from 0% VAT under the Energy Saving Materials relief, which is guaranteed until 31 March 2027. Commercial installations are subject to 20% VAT. For more details, please see our dedicated Sigenergy SigenStor page or contact us directly.

Energy Bill Savings and Return on Investment

The financial case for battery storage is strengthening. The Ofgem energy price cap for Q2 2026 (April to June) is set at £1,641 per year for a typical household, with electricity priced at approximately 24.7p per kWh.

Analysts including Cornwall Insight are forecasting that the Q3 2026 cap (July to September) could rise significantly – potentially to around £1,972 – driven by Middle East-related wholesale gas price increases. In this environment, every kilowatt-hour of solar energy you store and use rather than buying from the grid represents a growing saving.

Wiltshire benefits from a solar yield of approximately 950 kWh per kWp installed, comfortably above the UK average. A typical 4 kWp solar installation in Wiltshire generates around 3,800 kWh per year.

Without a battery, much of the solar electricity generated during the day is exported to the grid at Smart Export Guarantee rates of 4-15p per kWh. With a Sigenergy battery, that same energy can be stored and consumed during the evening peak, avoiding grid purchases at 24.7p per kWh or more. The difference between export value and avoided import cost is where the financial return is generated.

Homeowners on time-of-use tariffs can further improve returns by charging the battery during off-peak overnight periods (sometimes as low as 7-10p per kWh) and discharging during peak windows. Sigenergy’s AI Mode automates this process entirely.

Sigenergy Battery – April 2026 Update

The Ofgem energy price cap dropped to £1,641 per year from 1 April 2026, a reduction of £117 (7%) from Q1 2026. The fall was driven primarily by the government’s £6.9 billion energy bill discount scheme, which removed certain policy costs from household bills and transferred them to general taxation. The Resolution Foundation estimates this will deliver typical annual savings of around £200 in real terms compared with 2024.

However, the outlook for the second half of 2026 is less encouraging. Cornwall Insight’s March 2026 forecast puts the Q3 2026 cap at approximately £1,972: a potential increase of over £330 in a single quarter, which would be one of the largest rises since the 2022 energy crisis. The driver is rising wholesale gas prices linked to Middle East geopolitical tensions. EDF and E.ON have published broadly similar forecasts.

For Wiltshire homeowners considering battery storage, this widening gap between current rates and forecast rates makes the timing particularly relevant. A Sigenergy SigenStor system installed now can lock in savings at today’s solar generation rates while providing a hedge against the anticipated Q3 price rise. With spring and summer bringing the highest solar generation months, a system commissioned in April or May will deliver its best returns immediately.
