The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is a government-backed UK quality standard. It’s your guarantee that the solar panels, inverter, and the installer all meet the highest, most rigorous standards for safety and performance.
Crucially, using an MCS-certified installer is a prerequisite for being eligible for the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), the scheme that pays you for exporting electricity back to the grid. Always ask to see an installer’s MCS certificate.
