0% VAT on Battery Storage from 1 February 2024
It’s official – from today homeowners can enjoy 0% VAT on retrofitted battery storage

Previously, if you wanted to add batteries to your solar panel system you had to pay 20% VAT – not any more.
The day has finally come and – after much lobbying from the UK solar and storage industry – you can now get battery storage fitted to your existing solar panel array, all supplied and installed at 0% VAT.
As batteries still represent a sizeable investment, having to pay 20% VAT often resulted in large VAT payments of £100s, even over £1,000.
Fortunately, the government has now seen the light, the law has changed, and you can now proceed with retrofitted battery storage at a much lower cost.
If you don’t yet have solar panels, you can still get both solar and battery storage installed at the same time, all at 0% VAT as before.
